BED RACE ENTRY RULES
The Homer Hogstravaganza Bed Races will be held Saturday, August 2, 2008 at 1:00 p.m. on Main Street in Homer. You may register by filling out the form on the back page of the Hogstravaganza brochure or by
downloading this registration form.
The team with the best time will receive the
first place prize of $250.00!
The team with the best costumes will receive the trophy.
Beds must have no means of mechanical propulsion.
Beds must be of "twin" bed size, 48 x
84, have a head board and foot board, have four functional wheels, no more than 6’ in diameter, and all wheels must remain in contact with the road surface at all times.
All bed race entries must be family oriented. Printed or verbal statements made by participants or posted on the bed must not be discriminatory towards age, race, sex, gender, marital status, or physical/mental condition. In addition, bed race participants must be adequately dressed.
Participants must follow all guidelines as indicated by bed race coordinators for the safety of themselves and the parade audience.
There must be four (4) bed pushers and one (1) rider per team, with the rider weighing at least one hundred (100) pounds. No substitutes will be allowed at any time after the race has been started.
The rider must be appropriately dressed in bed clothing and be wearing a helmet during all heats.
The race will be run in heats of two. Teams will draw their heat number at check-in time. Advancing teams will be determined by the quickest times per heat.
Exhibition runs between teams are not eligible for prizes.
The decision of the bed race officials are final.
The application must be completed and returned with the $15.00 application fee. The application fee covers the cost of prizes awarded to participants. Any remaining monies will be deposited toward future festival activities.
Make checks payable to the Homer Area Chamber of Commerce and mail them with the completed registration form to PO Box 124, Homer, MI 49245, or drop them off at the Homer
Public Library.
