A
Brief History
Homer
was settled by Milton
Barney in 1832, who
named the settlement "Barneyville".
In 1834 it was renamed
Homer after a city in
New York. It was
incorporated as a
village in 1871.
Today, "Homer is Home"
to many proud citizens.
